By Grace McKibbon
INTRODUCTION
Alberta is known as the Princess Province because it was named after princess Louise Caroline Alberta who is the daughter of Queen Victoria.
Alberta is a land of beautiful mountain peaks, many cattle ranches, busy cities, and wide stretches of farm land.
Alberta has a total area of 661,185 square kilometers, with a population of 3.8 million. This province has the largest Métis population in Canada with 85,000 people.
The average sun per year in alberta is 2,000 hours of sun light. That makes Alberta the sunniest province in Canada.
The area surrounding the area of Lethbridge is known for it's strong winds. Albertans have a funny joke that if you're leaning to one side, you must be from Lethbridge!

NATURAL RESOURCES
Alberta is known as Canada`s energy province. Since Alberta is the top mining province in Canada, 5 percent of the people who work in Alberta have mining jobs. Its natural resources includes natural gas, oil, coal, minerals, and oil sands. Oil sands are dirt soaked with oil. The oil sands are found in northeast Alberta, and are a source of energy. But lots of people do not agree with it because the oil sands can cause pollution, and the mines are located where the Aboriginal people live.
Alberta has 57,000 farms and ranches, with many herds of cattle. Half of Canadian beef comes from Alberta. Another natural resource from the farms is wheat. Alberta is one of the
top 3 wheat production provinces.
